Summary: MediaTek has announced its Dimensity Developer Conference for April 11, during which the company will announce its new flagship SoC. The chip in question is the Dimensity 9400+, which will not be that much different than the Dimensity 9400. We only know one detail thus far, but more will come once MediaTek makes the chip official.
MediaTek will announce its new flagship SoC on April 11. The company did not specifically mention the Dimensity 9400+, but that is the chip that is coming. How do we know that? Well, read on.
MediaTek’s new flagship SoC will become official on April 11, it has been confirmed
The company announced its Dimensity Developer Conference for April 11. MediaTek also said that its “flagship 5G AI chipset” will become official during it. The Dimensity 9400+ is the only chip that fits that description.
On top of that, one of the most accurate tipsters around, Digital Chat Station, said recently that the chip is coming on that exact day. So… it’s basically certain that we’ll see it announced.
The MediaTek Dimensity 9300+ processor was announced in May last year. So, MediaTek decided to push up its release cycle a little bit this time around.
The Dimensity 9400+ won’t be that much different than Dimensity 9400
The Dimensity 9400+ is not expected to be all that different than the Dimensity 9400. It is expected to be a bit more powerful, but that’s about it, as the Dimensity 9400 is the mainline flagship chipset from the company.
Based on rumors and what we’ve seen in the past, the Dimensity 9400+ will have a higher CPU clock speed for its Cortex-X925 super core. The jump will be marginal, though, from 3.62GHz to 3.7GHz.
We do hope that this is not the only change, because there’s really no point in pushing out a new chpiset because of this. Let’s hope that MediaTek made some extra changes, as nothing else leaked thus far.
Not that the Dimensity 9400 is not a great chip, it’s outstanding and can go head-to-head with the Snapdragon 8 Elite and Apple’s offering. It’s just that the slight clock speed change doesn’t warrant a ‘Plus’ variant. Let’s see what will MediaTek have to say.
