Let’s watch as Crockett dismantles Trump’s self-proclaimed genius persona in real time.
If Donald Trump‘s brain were any smaller, you’d need an electron microscope and a search party to find it. At least that’s what Rep. Jasmine Crockett seems to think as she boldly challenged the former-president-turned-president-again to an IQ face-off.
Trump, who’s notorious for calling everyone else “low IQ” while struggling to pronounce “anonymous,” might finally have to put his money where his remarkably loud mouth is. Democratic Representative Jasmine Crockett appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! Tuesday night and enthusiastically accepted a hypothetical challenge to go “head to head” in an IQ test against President Trump. When Kimmel floated the idea of a public intelligence test between the congressional “rising sophomore” and the leader of the free world, Crockett said “Absolutely!” three times, with the kind of confidence that suggests she’s been waiting for this opportunity her entire career.
The potential battle of wits stems from Trump’s recent characterization of Crockett as “a lowlife” and “a very low-IQ person. ” Trump’s comments came as retaliation after Crockett referred to Texas Governor Greg Abbott as “Governor Hot Wheels” during a Human Rights Campaign dinner in Los Angeles this March. Crockett later attempted to clarify that controversial remark, explaining she was actually referring to Abbott’s transportation methods for relocating migrants to communities led by Black mayors—not making fun of his wheelchair use. Whether you buy that explanation probably depends on your political leanings, but regardless, it sparked a war of words.
Crockett, for her part, has made it clear she’s not afraid to go toe-to-toe with anyone. In recent months, she’s been an unrelenting critic of the MAGA movement, calling out everything from Trump’s legal troubles to the Republican Party’s conspiracy theories. Crockett represents a new wave of Democratic politicians who are younger, bolder, and less inclined to play nice with their Republican counterparts. She’s part of a generation that’s tired of tiptoeing around Trump’s antics and is willing to meet his insults with equal (if not greater) force. It’s a strategy that resonates with many voters who are fed up with the political status quo.
During her Kimmel appearance, Crockett launched into a broader critique of the Trump administration, claiming that “we really don’t know how much damage” they’re causing and describing their “level of incompetence” as nearly “incomprehensible.” She didn’t limit her targets to Trump either, taking shots at Pete Hegseth and—in her words—”the idiot known as Elon Musk,” concluding with the succinct assessment: “All of y’all are a problem.” Regardless — I, for one, will be waiting with bated breath to see if Trump accepts the challenge or if, as is more likely, he’ll claim he’s “too busy making America great again” to waste time on such frivolities.
