Be warned: Some SPOILERS for Deadpool & Wolverine to follow…

The latest teaser for next month’s MCU sequel Deadpool & Wolverineconfirms that a long-awaited X-Men rematch is on the cards. SPOILER ALERT for those who would rather go into the movie cold, as this newly released footage reveals that Tyler Mane will return as Sabretooth, with the supervillain clashing with Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine once again after all these years. You can check out the trailer and some screenshots of what looks like an epic battle below.

““People have waited decades for this fight. It’s not going to be easy,” says Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool in the footage. And he couldn’t be more right. Jackman’s Logan and Mane’s Sabretooth have not been together on screen since the first X-Men movie back in 2000, and no doubt the idea of them exchanging punches and claws after all this time will have Marvel fans very excited indeed.

Directed by Shawn Levy from a screenplay he wrote alongside Ryan Reynolds, Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick, and Zeb Wells, Deadpool & Wolverine is currently on track for a record-breaking opening weekend at the box office. Starring Reynolds and Hugh Jackman as Deadpool and Wolverine, respectively, alongside Emma Corrin, Morena Baccarin, Rob Delaney, Leslie Uggams, Karan Soni, and Matthew Macfadyen, Deadpool & Wolverine will see the characters join the MCU after being tasked by the Time Variance Authority (TVA) with a new mission. A mission that will see him travel across the madness of the multiverse.

Deadpool & Wolverine Is Likely to Be Brimming With Crowd-Pleasing Cameos

Taylor Mane’s Sabretooth is expected to be just one of several crowd-pleasing cameos in Deadpool & Wolverine, with the likes of Aaron Stanford already confirmed to return as X-Men character, Pyro. Director Shawn Levy has previously said that his mind was blown by “how easy some of those cameos have been,” while Ryan Reynolds has played things coy while teasing plenty of surprises.

“I don’t think straight-up dishonesty is in the cards for us right now […] You know, movies like this are — there’s so many — just so much speculation about so many people that might end up in the film. You know, I saw one that was convinced Elvis was in the movie [laughter]. Anything could happen and that’s sort of what I love about this universe and this world. We’ll see. Surprises are the essence of Deadpool.”

Deadpool 3 Was Almost Shelved Until Hugh Jackman Made a Last-Minute Decision

Like a real-life superhero, Hugh Jackman saved Deadpool & Wolverine from being shelved at Marvel Studios.

Marvel fans were surprised to learn that Hugh Jackman will reprize the role of Wolverine in the upcoming Deadpool outing, but the actor has now promised that his latest take on the character will be “fresh” and show off a “different side.” The actor revealed to Vanity Fair

“I instinctively knew that Deadpool was going to allow us to get to a different side of the [Wolverine] character than I’ve ever played before, in every way, from emotion, humor, dialogue, and action. Everything felt new and fresh to me. And I’d be sharing it with Ryan and Shawn, who are two of my best friends. The three of us together are like the Three Amigos. There was not a day where I wasn’t in tears laughing. I felt so rejuvenated playing the part. I mean, I’m 25 years in, man, and it feels better than ever.”

Deadpool & Wolverine
is scheduled to be released in the United States on July 26, 2024, as part of Phase Five of the MCU.
