In addition to the newly launched G915 X gaming keyboard, Logitech G is also announcing a brand-new gaming headset, the Astro A50 Gen 5. This new version of the Astro A50 is essentially the same as the Astro A50 X, but with one key change.
While the Astro A50 X uses HDMI video switching to connect multiple platforms, the Astro A50 Gen 5 uses USB audio switching instead. Everything else basically works the same though. The new Astro A50 Gen 5 comes with PLAYSYNC Audio so you can easily move between platforms with the press of a button. Logitech G says it’s the perfect gaming headset for the battle station gamer. In other words, the gamer who has multiple platforms set up in front of their monitor as opposed to consoles and a PC hooked up to the big screen TV.
The Astro A50 Gen 5 gaming headset uses Pro-G Graphene drivers
Logitech G introduced these drivers with its G Pro X 2 gaming headset, and they provide a nearly unmatched sound quality for those important little details in games that you don’t want to miss. For example, the footsteps of the players on the enemy team in games like Call of Duty, CS2, and other shooters.
While this is incredibly useful for competitive games, the Pro-G Graphene drivers also deliver a rich and detailed soundscape for the subtle sounds in any game. So in games where audio plays a big part in the narrative and the overall experience, the drivers make a difference there too. In addition to the Pro-G Graphene drivers, the headset also supports 24-bit Lightspeed uncompressed audio technology. Logitech G says this delivers extremely high levels of clarity to the audio.
You can also connect the headset to the G Hub mobile app or the PC app, depending on which platform you’re using at the time. Another nice feature is the support for simultaneous audio mixing. So you can have your game audio playing through the headset with the Lightspeed connection on PC or console, and Discord chat audio coming from your phone using Bluetooth.
The headset launches in October, priced at $300
Those looking to upgrade to this new headset will need to wait just a bit longer for it. As Logitech G says it won’t be shipping out until October. You can, however, pre-order it starting today. It retails for $299.99 and it comes in Black and White. The headset will be available from retailers like Best Buy in the near future, or you can pre-order it right now from Logitech G. The headset is compatible with PS5, PC, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, mobile devices, and anything that can connect to Bluetooth.
