We’re just days away from Google’s official Made By Google hardware event where the company is set to show off the Pixel 9 Pro and the other Pixel 9 series phones, and a newly leaked ad is showcasing some of the phone’s AI-powered functions ahead of the event.
The Pixel 9 Pro has by all accounts, leaked in almost every conceivable way, but one way we haven’t really seen it pop up yet is in the form of Google’s official promotional ads. You know the ones. The ads that showcase some of the new features. Google has put these out every year for the past few generations directly after the event where they were revealed to the public.
While the leaked ad hasn’t been confirmed by Google, it’s pretty clear that this is one of the ads Google intends to toss out once the new lineup of phones has been announced. As with past years, Google’s Pixel 9 series phones will be beefed up with plenty of AI-based features. Some of these will be found in the camera software. A big change this year though will be Google’s integration of Gemini at the device level.
Pixel 9 Pro ad shows on-device Gemini in action
Over the years Google Assistant has become a pretty useful on-device tool for Pixel phone owners. Google is seemingly switching things up with the Pixel 9 series though by integrating Gemini. This particular detail isn’t new information. However, this leaked ad (courtesy of @MysteryLupin) is perhaps the first time it’s been shown off. In the ad, you can see the person holding the Pixel 9 taking a photo of some ingredients in their fridge. Then ask Gemini what they can make with those ingredients.
Gemini then replies with a contextual result showing off a Lentil and Beet burger. It also follows up with a small description of what can be done to prep the ingredients for the dish.
The new “Add Me” feature lets you superimpose subjects over other images
Another neat new feature coming to the camera is the Add Me feature. This gets shown off in the ad as well. What it does is basically let you superimpose subjects over another image. The example used in the ad shows a picture being taken of two people first. Then a second image is taken of a completely different person while adding the other two from the first image into the second one. Based on how the feature looks in action, this could be super useful for shots where someone might have missed being in the photo.
This isn’t the first time the Add Me feature has leaked. We exclusively reported on the feature back on July 26. However, this newly leaked ad gives a better look at how it actually works.
