Last month the developers at Snowman teased their next game coming to Android called Laya’s Horizon, and today the studio has released the first full official game trailer. Giving players a sneak peek at what’s to come with the game when it launches later this year.
The teaser trailer from March didn’t show off much. Just a backwards moving camera as it floats over a mountainside landscape. Finally ending on what we could only assume was the main character, Laya. Laya spreads her arms to create makeshift wings with the cape she’s wearing. Which suggests players will control Laya as she glides down the mountain, presumably to an end goal.
Today’s official Laya’s Horizon game trailer shows that’s exactly how the game works. I’ve also gotten to spend some early time with the game. And while I can’t say much about it yet, I can say that players are in for a treat. Laya will leap off cliffs and glide down the mountain, with players directing her flight path as they work towards accomplishing a variety of set tasks. Compared to games like Alto’s Adventure and Alto’s Odyssey, Laya’s Horizon will give players a lot more freedom.
Though it is clear that Snowman has taken some of what makes those two games special and applied it here.
The official Laya’s Horizon game trailer shows off multiple biomes
The trailer doesn’t show off much in terms of what players will be tasked with doing. But it does show off an expansive landscape that players can explore. With multiple biomes to provide some contrast to the world as players fly through it.
During the game, Laya will glide calmly through mountain peaks and steamy geysers, past snow-covered hills and waterfalls, and between the buildings of Laya’s civilization. It’s that variety of ecosystems, together with some truly inspired touch controls that are setting players up for a magical experience. You can view some of the game’s world in the trailer below.
If you liked either of the Alto games, you probably want to keep an eye on this one. Because it’s a fun time, and it’ll offer a lot that those games didn’t. Laya’s Horizon will launch on Netflix on May 2 and be available for free to anyone who has a Netflix subscription.
