When you’re shopping for storage solutions for your desktop or laptop, one name that continues to come up as a viable option is Kingston Technology, which just so happens to have announced its latest storage product, the NV3 NVMe SSD. The company says this is an SSD designed for high-capacity performance. As a consumer, that should tell you that you’re looking at an SSD that is engineered to secure your most important files.

But the NV3 isn’t just your everyday, run-of-the-mill NVMe SSD. It’s just not just for general computer use. You can certainly use it for a standard PC, from browsing to more mundane tasks. However, it’s equally capable of being your go-to SSD for gaming and other high-intensity tasks as well. Thanks to some pretty fast read and write speeds, you shouldn’t have to worry about it chugging along. Kingston calls it a “cost-effective storage solution” perfect for gamers and creators, just like its Kingston Fury RAM solutions. Allowing for an unmatched value that won’t compromise on the performance you expect with your storage.

The Kingston NV3 NVMe SSD comes in four storage size options

In terms of actual size, this is a 2280 NVMe SSD so it should fit any device that allows that configuration. Which in most cases, is going to be any laptop or desktop, and even the PS5. For storage sizes, Kingston is offering four variants of this SSD.

If you don’t need a lot of extra storage space, you can pick up the NV3 in as little as 500GB. That’s quite a lot if you’re using it for regular everyday PC stuff. Like storing documents, photos, videos, and the like. You could even use it for your main gaming SSD. 500GB does fill up pretty quickly, however. So you may want to step up the storage size if gaming is your intention. Luckily, Kingston also offers the NV3 in 1TB, 2TB, and 4TB storage sizes as well. And with 4TB, you would have more than enough for all your games and just about anything else.

The 500GB model has slower read and write speeds

It’s important to keep this factor in mind because you likely want the fastest performance you can get. And if that’s the case, you probably want at least the 1TB model. With read and write speeds of 5,000/3,000MB/s, the 500GB SSD is a little behind that of the larger capacity models. Not by a whole lot, though. The 1TB, 2TB, and 4TB SSDs all come with read and write speeds of 6,000/4,000MB/s. So while the larger capacities are faster, it’s not like you’ll be several generations slower if you go with the 500GB instead.

You also want to factor in the price. That being said, all of the storage size options appear to be pretty affordable. The 500GB starts at $55, while the 1TB is $80, and the 2TB is only $158. All of these can be picked up on Amazon as well. Plus, those are the regular retail prices. Amazon actually has them all on sale right now, with the 500GB starting at $45. The only one that doesn’t have a listed price is the 4TB, which doesn’t appear to be available quite yet, or it’s simply out of stock.
