Samsung‘s 2023 flagships are almost here. The company will reportedly launch the Galaxy S23 series on February 1. Rumors and leaks have already revealed plenty about the new phones. And as we inch closer to the launch event, new leaks keep surfacing. A noted tipster recently shared some of the key specs of the Galaxy S23 Ultra. It isn’t a whole new set of information, but there are quite a few takeaways in the latest leak. Let’s check those out.
A new leak refreshes us with key Galaxy S23 Ultra specs
According to the new report, the Galaxy S23 Ultra will feature Corning’s Gorilla Glass Victus 2. Launched in November last year, the latest solution from Corning brings added strength over the Gorilla Glass Victus+ found on the front and back of the Galaxy S22 Ultra. The frame is still made of Armor Aluminum, though. Samsung introduced this material on the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3 in 2021. Last year’s flagships also featured an Armor Aluminum frame. Another area where things remain unchanged is ingress protection (IP). The Galaxy S23 Ultra will unsurprisingly boast an IP68 rating.
We have long heard that the upcoming Ultra will be Samsung’s first 200MP camera phone. It will debut the company’s third-gen 200MP sensor which it hasn’t announced yet. The latest leak reiterates this and adds that it will have a wider field of view. The device will boast OIS (Optical Image Stabilization), of course. The tipster also mentions AI-powered digital and optical video stabilization and Super HDR support. Earlier rumors hinted at the Galaxy S23 series, or at least the Ultra model, possibly featuring sensor-shift stabilization technology. But that doesn’t seem to be happening.
Last but not least, the new report says the Galaxy S23 Ultra will feature DDR5 RAM. Samsung last month announced the mass production of the industry’s first 12nm DDR5 RAM with speeds of up to 7.2 Gbps (gigabits per second). The Korean firm is the industry leader in the memory chips market. It’s not surprising for its latest flagships to arrive with the best memory solutions out there. We are also expecting the new Galaxy devices to feature its fastest storage solution — UFS 4.0 which the company launched last year.
With less than four weeks left for the Galaxy S23 launch, we expect leaks to reveal more information about the new Samsung flagships in the coming days. We will let you know as soon as we have something worth sharing.
