JoJo Siwa realizes she is not a lesbian after getting real cozy real fast on ‘Celebrity Big Brother UK’

Sexuality is, contrary to what the likes of Donald Trump and his cronies like to preach, a journey. You learn more about it as you progress, and who better than JoJo Siwa as an example – she just rescinded her previous proclamation of being a lesbian after spending just 19 days in the Big Brother House.

It was back in 2021 when Siwa first discussed her sexuality openly but refused to stick to a label, defining her as she hadn’t discovered it at the time. Within a short span of time, they began to be identified as pansexual, which then switched to calling herself a lesbian in a 2023 video with Joey Graceffa.

But then came 2025, and Siwa became a contestant on Celebrity Big Brother UK since the show’s launch on April 7. In her 19 days in the house, completely cut off from outside contact, Siwa was seen cozying up with housemate Chris Hughes. They flirted, cuddled, hugged, etc, during the episodes. How that factors into her relationship with Australian content creator and actor Kath Ebbs is currently unknown, but the effect it had on her evolving understanding of her sexuality is clear. 

“I think I’ve always told myself I’m a lesbian,” the former Dance Moms star shared with co-star Danny Beard, who won RuPaul’s Drag Race UK. “I think you — I think being here I realize, ‘Oh, I’m not a lesbian, I’m queer.’

“And I think that’s really cool. I’m switching letters! F*** the L, I’m going to the Q,” she added. “That’s what I love about sexuality.”

This shift from identifying as lesbian to embracing herself as queer is a profound reflection of Siwa’s ongoing exploration and understanding of her identity. During many moments in the show, she discussed her sexuality and talked about her connection with nonbinary individuals, but clarified that while she feels a similarity, she isn’t ready to adopt that label for herself.

But not everyone is capable of broadening their mindset.

During the show’s early episodes, Mickey Rourke questioned Siwa about her sexuality, pestering her about whether she “likes boys or girls.” He openly mocked the singer for being a lesbian and for her relationship with a nonbinary partner, crudely commenting that “if I stay longer than four days, you won’t be gay anymore.” He didn’t end his toxic tirade here and further added that he would “vote the lesbian out real quick” and used a homophobic slur.
