Stuck between a rock and a hard place.
For all intents and purposes, Ben Affleck seems ready – even eager – to leave behind every trace and evidence of his rekindled romance and subsequent marriage with Jennifer Lopez. But the “On the Floor” appears to harbor no such intentions.
While the ex-couple has compromised on a number of matters – reportedly choosing to end their cold war thanks to Jennifer Garner – JLo is refusing to budge on the sale of their $68 million marital home in Beverly Hills, California. It has not seen a new buyer for eight months now since they listed it back in July 2024.
As per a report by TMZ, the ex-couple paid a way too high price for the house – close to $61 million – when they bought it back in 2023, at the peak of their marital bliss. And now, their asking price is even higher, which is what is driving away any potential buyers.
Now, The Flash actor reportedly has no qualms about lowering the asking price as long as it gets the house sold. But Lopez is not ready to let it go that easily and is sticking to the current price, allegedly dragging the whole process.
But Ben Affleck has bigger problems – like gaining the approval of his children
During his latest appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, the actor revealed that his kids – Violet, 19, Seraphina, 16, and Samuel, 13 – don’t go easy on him when watching him films. Unlike his peers who may simper at his less worthy films, his children prefer to go “very tough” on him and “don’t censor their criticism.”
“They’ll sit right next to me watching a movie and while it’s happening [say], ‘This is terrible. I mean, this is terrible. Why did you do this?’”
For them, Affleck’s worst film is Armageddon, which they labeled “stupid” right off the bat. “My son was like, ‘This doesn’t make sense,’” Affleck continued. “[I replied], ‘This is not a logic-based film! That is not one of the criteria we used making this!’” Apparently, his kids liking his films is a rarity, and even then, their compliments are more shock than appreciation. “They were shocked as if I got lucky, like this magical accident happened and something I did was OK!” he added.
So technically, he can’t convince his ex to let the house go that continues to keep them in each other’s orbits and nor can the Golden Globe winner win over his kids’ approval. What a pickle.
