Isn’t it a beautiful world, Charlie Brown? Apple TV+ has revealed the trailer for a brand new Earth Day-focused Peanuts special, It’s the Small Things, Charlie Brown. The trailer can be viewed below.
This special seems to bring back a classic Peanuts setting, the old baseball field. When Charlie Brown and the gang get ready to play, Sally discovers something new on the old pitcher’s mound and vows to protect it at all costs. Soon, the little dandelion begins to charm the whole neighborhood, including good ol’ Charlie Brown!
The Earth Day-themed special will also be joined with the 1976 special It’s Arbor Day, Charlie Brown, which will also make its premiere on Apple TV+. From what we see in the trailer, the two specials will have something in common. An event will happen which will inspire the kids to turn the old baseball field into a garden! In Arbor Day, this gets in the way with Peppermint Patty’s concentration and gives Charlie Brown’s team an advantage for once (before getting rained out and causing both teams to forfeit).
The special is produced by Peanuts and WildBrain. Raymond S. Persi is credited with directing with James Brown and Tim Smith producing. Craig Schulz, Bryan Schulz, Cornelius Uliano, Paige Braddock, Josh Scherba, Stephanie Betts, Amir Nasrabadi, and Anne Loi will be executive producing.
Take Care, Charlie Brown!
Compared to the recent Peanuts projects, It’s the Small Things fits right in with the new Take Care movement. The project is all about leading by example with the classic strips to stop and appreciate yourself and the world around you, including the earth. Take Care is described on the Peanuts website.
Drawing on themes found throughout Charles Schulz’s iconic comic strips, Take Care with Peanuts promotes three vital messages of caring: Care for yourself. Care for each other. Care for the Earth.
With the Peanuts Gang leading by (often humorous!) example, Take Care with Peanuts inspires and motivates action through online messages, kid-friendly animated videos, charitable opportunities, special curricula, social media engagement, pop-up experiences, and much more—reminding us to press ‘Pause’ and appreciate ourselves, those around us, and this place we call home.
To go along with the movement, a series of shorts as been released from the Peanuts team to spread the word. With one of the themes being about protecting the environment, the Peanuts gang leads by example on how to show more appreciation to the earth. Such activities include recycling and planting a garden. The shorts can be viewed on the official Peanuts Youtube channel and social media.
As for It’s the Small Things, the special will make its grand debut on April 29th. It’s the second Peanuts special to be produced for Apple TV+ following the new deal between the streaming service and Peanuts Worldwide and Lee Mendelson Film Productions. The first special produced for the deal was For Auld Lang Syne, which was about celebrating New Year’s Eve. A slate of new specials will be following, which will include celebrating Mother’s Day and Back to School.
