iRobot has just announced the Roomba Combo Essential robot vacuum and mop, which will cost $275. As you can tell by the name, this will feature just the essentials. It does have a mopping pad available on the bottom, but the dock is only used for charging, meaning you’ll need to empty the dustbin on your own.
Compared to the Roomba 600 series, the Roomba Combo Essential provides 18x more suction power, and also improves the navigation, so it is able to clean in neat rows, with customizable suction and liquid settings. It can provide Clean Map reports and longer battery life too.
With robot vacuums getting more and more expensive, iRobot has stepped up with a really good and inexpensive option
These days, robot vacuums are getting really crazy expensive. But the good news is that iRobot is still offering something for those who just want a robot vacuum without having to take out a second mortgage. At $275, you’re actually getting a whole lot out of this robot vacuum.
Now unfortunately, but expected, the Roomba Combo Essential does not lift the mop up off of the floor, like the more expensive Roomba Combo j7 and j9 models. Instead, you will need to add the mopping pad to the dustbin/water tank. It’s still pretty easy to do, but this does mean you’ll need to take action on the robot vacuum if you have it mopping floors and vacuuming the carpets in your home.
The mopping functionality here is really good actually. It is able to mop up to 500 square-feet of space, and it also provides you with three options for mopping water levels. Obviously, you’ll want to use more water on dirtier floors, so it can really get those messes up off of the floors in your home.
As if that wasn’t enough, iRobot is also announcing the Roomba Vac Essential for North America. This robot vacuum is going to cost $249, and won’t include the mopping functionality.
The Roomba Combo Essential and Roomba Vac Essential will be available in the US starting on April 7 and in Canada on April 12. For those in EMEA, the Roomba Combo Essential is available now, with the APAC region getting it later in April.
