Apple seems to be getting ready to make a display change on its base iPhone model. Based on the latest information, the Apple iPhone 17 will feature a larger display than its predecessor. It will include a 6.27-inch panel, in other words, it will be the same size as the panel on the ‘Pro’ model.
The iPhone 17’s display will get a size increase based on the latest report
This information comes from Ross Young, a well-known display analyst. Based on the source, we don’t have a reason to doubt it. As a reminder, the iPhone 16 has a 6.12-inch display, which is marketed as a 6.1-inch panel. This new display will likely be marketed as a 6.3-inch display.
What we don’t know is if the bezels around the iPhone 17’s size will be thinner. They will be uniform once again, but it remains to be seen if they will be thinner than the ones on the iPhone 16. It would be nice if they are, as that would retain the phone in a rather compact state.
Chances are that the bezels around the display won’t be identical to the ones on the ‘Pro’ model
If it ends up having the same bezel thickness as the ‘Pro’ model, which is highly unlikely, it will also be approximately the same size as the ‘Pro’ model. We’re guessing that its bezels will be thicker, at least slightly. It remains to be seen.
Even if it retains the same bezel thickness as the iPhone 16, it will still be quite compact, though not as compact as the iPhone 16. We can guess all we want, but we’ll have to wait for more information.
Four iPhone 17 models are coming later this year
Now, as many of you know, four iPhone 17 models are coming. The iPhone 17 will be accompanied by the iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 Air, and iPhone 17 Pro Max. The iPhone 17 Pro will feature a 6.27-inch display, the iPhone 17 Air will have a 6.55-inch panel, while the iPhone 17 Pro Max will include a 6.86-inch display (it will be marketed as a 6.9-inch panel).
The iPhone 17 Air will replace the iPhone 16 Plus, as many of you know by now. That will be Apple’s extremely thin phone, which will compete directly with the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge. The entire iPhone 17 lineup is expected to arrive later this year, in September.
