The iPhone 16 series is almost a year away, and we’re already getting information about the iPhone 17. The latest piece of info claims that the iPhone 17 Pro Max will feature a 48MP periscope telephoto camera.
The iPhone 17 Pro Max could include a 48MP periscope telephoto camera
This information actually comes from Jeff Pu, a well-known Apple analyst. That gives it some footing, of course. The iPhone 17 series is expected to launch in 2025, well, in September 2025.
He also notes that the aforementioned camera will be optimized for use with the Apple Vision Pro headset. We still don’t know the details regarding that, but chances are more info will surface in the near future.
The iPhone 17 Pro Max could become the first iPhone with three 48-megapixel cameras
Having said that, the iPhone 16 Pro series is expected to include two 48-megapixel cameras. The main and ultrawide cameras will likely be 48-megapixel sensors. So, the iPhone 17 Pro Max could actually become the first iPhone with three 48-megapixel units.
Do note that the iPhone 17 Pro could include that same 48-megapixel periscope telephoto camera. We’re not sure about that. Apple did separate the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max in terms of cameras on the back. The iPhone 15 Pro Max does have the upper hand.
We’re not sure if the iPhone 17 Pro will have the same camera setup
The iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max are tipped to include the exact same cameras. So, we don’t really know what to expect with the iPhone 17 Pro series. It’s anyone’s guess at this point.
As already mentioned, we’re still rather far away from the point of the iPhone 17 series launch. So things could change moving forward, and we should be focusing on the iPhone 16 either way. It’s nice to know that we’ll get some telephoto camera improvements moving forward, though.
