Google just unveiled its latest foldable phone, the Pixel 9 Pro Fold. This phone, along with the other Pixel 9 handsets announced today, brings some improved power and AI over last generation. If you’re excited about this phone, then you should head to your favorite carrier’s site and put in your pre-order. There’s just one thing… the Pixel 9 Pro Fold won’t be offered by AT&T.
The Pixel 9 Pro Fold costs $1,799, but many of the people picking up this device won’t pay that much. This is because they typically choose to either capitalize on pre-order deals, discounts, trade-in deals, or contracts. These soften the nearly $2K blow. This is why carriers play a massive role in the acquisition of phones because they offer some amazing deals and discounts.
However, AT&T just isn’t offering the Pixel 9 Pro Fold
This is a bummer for people who are on Team Blue. AT&T will offer the other Pixel 9 phones. Granted, the other phones are pretty great, but nothing compares to a good foldable, and the Pixel 9 Pro Fold is shaping up to be a great one.
AT&T confirmed to CNET that it will not sell the Pixel 9 Pro Fold, and we’re not sure why. As stated by CNET, AT&T was able to wrack up 72 million postpaid phone users last quarter. That’s nothing to sneeze at. In any case, it seems that AT&T doesn’t deem the Pixel 9 Pro Fold good enough, even with its new Tensor G4 and additional AI features.
CNET reached out to AT&T to see if the company will still activate unlocked Pixel 9 Pro Folds for use on its network. It has yet to respond.
If you’re looking for the most futuristic Pixel device, then you’ll want to look into getting a Pixel 9 Pro Fold. This phone will come out with a bunch of new AI features courtesy of Gemini running on-device. For example, you’ll have the Call Notes feature that will summarize your latest phone call.
It has 16GB of RAM and it starts at 256GB of onboard storage. You can get it for up to $800 off at Verizon. This might be the phone to win the foldable phone race.
