A couple of days ago, Huawei teased its upcoming smartwatch with a detachable dial. Well, that watch is now official. Its name is the Huawei Watch GT Cyber, and it comes with replaceable shells aka detachable dial.

The Huawei Watch GT Cyber comes with replaceable shells

That is basically its main differentiating factor compared to other, recent smartwatches we’ve seen. Its dial can be popped out of a shell, and placed into a different shell/frame altogether. That way you can change the design of the watch completely.

Huawei actually announced quite a few different variants of this watch, for baseline models that are available to purchase. The central module is the same, though, and it can be moved from one shell to the next.

The Urban Pioneer model, for example, comes in black, with a nano microcrystalline ceramic bezel, 316L stainless steel case, and a rubber strap. The fashion-forward iteration has a similar body and strap, but it comes in Moonlight White and Sea Blue colors.

There is also a Sports Edition that comes with a reinforced composite fiber bezel and a case, while it features a rubber strap. That variant launched in Midnight Black and Sky Gray colors.

It includes a really nice AMOLED display, and offers really good battery life

The Watch itself features a 1.32-inch 466 x 466 AMOLED display. It has a 292mAh battery which provides up to 7 days of typical use, 4 days of heavy use. Bluetooth 5.2 is also included, as is Wi-Fi 2.4GHz.

The watch is 5ATM rated, and it includes both a microphone and a speaker. That’s in case you want to talk via your watch, for some reason. There are over 100 workout modes included here, with automatic exercise detection for the 6 most common types of workouts. Sleep tracking is also here, as is heart rate tracking, and SpO2 tracking.

You’ll find the usual array of sensors here, including an Accelerometer, Gyroscope, Geomagnetic sensor, Optical heart rate sensor, and Air pressure sensor.

The Huawei Watch GT Cyber measures 47.4 x 44.4 x 10.2 (Urban and Sports variants) / 45.6 x 45.6 x 10.2 (Fashion variant). The Urban variant weighs 77 grams, the Sports model weighs 59 grams, while the Fashion variant weighs 58 grams.

It launched in China, but it may make its way to more markets

This smartwatch got announced in China, and the pricing starts at CNY1,288 ($176) for the Sports version. The Fashion and Urban Pioneer models cost CNY1,488 ($204). The cases can be purchased separately for CNY199 ($27) and CNY399 ($54). It remains to be seen if this model will make its way to global markets.
