Huawei has finally officially confirmed the launch date of the Pura 80 series of smartphones. Huawei will launch the Pura 80 lineup at an event in China on June 11. The company made the announcement through a teaser posted on Weibo, highlighting the rear cameras of the latest high-end series devices.
Huawei Pura 80’s teaser highlights the dual periscope cameras
Huawei’s Pura 80 series launch date teaser includes the tagline “See beyond with foresight”, which highlights the lineup’s focus on offering an enhanced mobile photography experience. At the event next week, Huawei could introduce as many as three models, including the Pura 80, Pura 80 Pro, and Pura 80+ or Ultra.
Multiple leaks recently have suggested that Huawei will offer a dual periscope camera system at the back of the Pura 80 series. Now, the company’s official teaser has almost confirmed this information. The elliptical shapes in the teaser indicate that both may be periscope-style telephoto lenses. However, we expect that Huawei will offer a dual periscope camera system only on the Pura 80 Pro+ or Ultra model.

The most high-end Pura 80 variant could flaunt a SmartSens LOFIC CMOS sensor
If we believe the rumors, Huawei will offer a custom 1-inch LOFIC CMOS sensor developed by SmartSens on the Pura 80 Pro+ or Ultra variant. The LOFIC sensor will allegedly enhance dynamic range and low-light performance. This sensor will also use the company’s RYYB pixel arrangement, which offers improved low-light sensitivity.
Additionally, the top-tier variant of the Huawei Pura 80 series could offer a 50MP 1/1.3-inch periscope telephoto lens as the secondary snapper. Huawei might eliminate the retractable lens design from the Pura 80 Pro+/Ultra model, a feature present in the Pura 70 Ultra. Besides, the leaks suggest the phone will have a third 40MP ultrawide-angle lens and a 2MP color temperature sensor at the back.
Recently, He Gang, the CEO of Huawei Consumer Business Group, accidentally leaked the design of the Pura 80 series. The image revealed that the device will have a much larger triple camera island, which will cover almost the top half of the phone’s rear panel.
Huawei plans to launch the Pura 80 series with the stable version of HarmonyOS 5.0. These devices will also feature the new flagship in-house Kirin 9020 processor, according to the rumors. Unfortunately, other technical details about the upcoming Pura series phones aren’t available at the moment.
