Amazon Prime Day is happening again this year, July 12 and July 13. Making its triumphant return to July for the first time since 2019. It’s another two-day event, and it’ll be jampacked with all kinds of deals that you can take advantage of. And we’re here to help you prepare for Prime Day this year.
So to help you prepare for Amazon Prime Day this year, we’re here with some tips so you can make the most out of your Prime Day experience. Some of these tips will be pretty simple and straightforward, while other things you may not have thought about. So let’s get started.
Check on your Prime Subscription
Prime Day is really only available for Prime members. Luckily, most of us are already Prime members. However, the first thing that you should do is to check out your Prime account and make sure it’s in good standing. If you’re set for a renewal soon, make sure you have the money in that account to renew it without any issues.
It’s also a good idea to sign up for the annual membership, over the monthly one. Annually, it is going to be $139, however monthly it is $15. So if you pay monthly, it works out to $180. That’s quite a bit more than the annual price of $139. So if you are on a monthly plan, make sure to make that switch over to the annual plan.
Sign up for a Prime free trial
If you are not a Prime member yet, make sure to sign up for a free trial. Amazon offers a pretty incredible trial for Prime. Where you can get a free 30-day trial if you sign up. Now if you are a student, you can get a six-month free trial, and Prime is also much cheaper. It’s $7.49/month or $69/year. Which is about half the price of Prime for everyone else.
Amazon Prime is definitely worth signing up for. Aside from the free, fast delivery from Amazon, there are also a number of other perks. Like Amazon Prime Video, as well as Prime Gaming, Prime Music, among other things. We’ve outlined all of the benefits here.
Check and update your payment methods
This is another common sense tip, to prepare ahead of Prime day, and that is to update your payment methods. Credit and debit cards change, they expire, and other issues might crop up. So make sure that your most recent cards are in there, and are up to date. That way you won’t have any issue checking out on Prime Day.
This is actually very important because Prime Day deals can run out super quick. There have been times in the past where Prime Day deals went out of stock in mere minutes. And if you’re stuck fixing your payment method, you could lose out on that deal. So making sure it is up-to-date ahead of time can ensure you get that deal.
Sign up for the Amazon Prime Rewards Visa Signature Card
This isn’t a mandatory thing for Prime Day, but if you are a frequent Amazon shopper, the Prime Rewards Visa Signature Card is a good option for you.
The credit card will offer you 5% cash back on purchases made at Amazon and Whole Foods. There’s also 2% back at restaurants, gas stations and drug stores. And it will earn 1% cash back on utilities, ridesharing and other purchases. on top of that, there is no annual fee. So you could really rack up a lot of cash back, especially during Prime Day.
Additionally, Amazon is offering a $100 gift card instantly upon approval for the card. You can choose the cash back or 0% promo APR for 6 to 18 months on purchases of $50 or more. After that promo period, there is a variable APR of 14.99% to 22.99%.
Get $10 free to spend on Prime Day
Speaking of free money, Amazon has a way that you can earn $10 to spend on Prime Day. This year, Amazon is doing it a bit different, instead of spending money at Whole Foods, or with small businesses, you’re on a big of a scavenger hunt.
Amazon has introduced the Prime Stampcard. Basically, now through July 13, you will need to collect four stamps to get your $10 to spend on Prime Day. You’ll need to complete the following four things:
- Make a Prime-eligible purchase
- Stream a show on Prime video
- Listen to a song with Prime Music
- Borrow an e-book on Prime Reading
Basically, it’s a way for Amazon to showcase the different benefits of Prime. And you get $10 to spend on Prime Day.
Some customers may also receive an email that if they upload a photo to Amazon Photos, they’ll get a $20 credit for Prime Day. This isn’t available for everyone – really only those that have never used Amazon Photos.
Create deal alerts in the Amazon app
A piece of advice that we always give out ahead of big shopping holidays like Prime Day, is to create a list of things you need or want to buy, and stick to it. That way you’re not going into debt and buying stuff you don’t need.
With the Amazon app, you can also set alerts for these products and be notified when they go on sale. Just check out the Prime Day page before the event to create these alerts and once Prime Day starts you’ll get push notifications on these deals.
