If you’re planning to trade, sell, or return your Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6, you’ll want to factory reset it. These days, thanks to things like reset protection, it’s not quite as easy as simply factory resetting your device. Especially if you plan to get rid of it and not simply give it to a family member, factory resetting a device can also help alleviate some issues that you might be having with that device. So here’s how you can factory reset your Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6.

How to factory reset your Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6

First things first, you’re going to need to prepare your device for a factory reset. So, make sure you back up your device first. Luckily, with Samsung devices, you can use the Samsung Cloud to back up your device. This saves your system data, and it makes the restore process super easy. This backup method can save call logs, messages, contacts, calendars, alarms, and settings preferences, as well as one UI home screen widget, app layout, and other customization settings, as well as apps and voice recordings.

However, if you plan to leave Samsung and go to another brand, you’ll want to use Google One to back up your device. Google One will really only back up your apps and such, as photos and videos are backed up to Google Photos.

Next, you need to sign out of your Google account(s). If you don’t do this, the person that is going to set up your device won’t be able to without Google account’s email and password. That’s thanks to Device Protection, and prevents someone that might have stolen your device from resetting it and using it as their own.
