HONOR has officially announced that a new flagship smartphone is coming on November 23. The company announced that the device will become official in China, but it will make its way to global markets as well.
HONOR will announce its new flagship smartphone on November 23
The global launch of the device will be coming a bit later on, though. The event itself will take place at 2:30 PM China time / 7:30 AM CET / 1:30 AM EST.
Along with this announcement, HONOR did share a poster as well. If you take a look at it, you’ll notice a bird flying, and what seems to be a camera module in the reflection.
There are two possibilities here. The HONOR Magic5 series, or the HONOR Magic V2. The HONOR Magic V launched in early January, while the Magic4 series arrived in late February.
The HONOR Magic V2 foldable is likely the device in question
Judging by that time frame, the HONOR Magic V2 is the more probable choice here. Another detail that suggests it will be the Magic V2 is the fact that HONOR mentioned “HONOR flagship product”, and not a series of products.
Having said that, HONOR did confirm, last month, that it will launch its first global foldable smartphone in Q1 2023. It is quite possible that the device will get announced in November in China, and follow in early 2023 in global markets. In fact, HONOR may even announce it for global markets by the end of 2023, and then just release it in early 2023.
Either way, we’re getting a new global foldable smartphone soon. Samsung and Huawei will finally get some competition. HONOR and a number of other companies, such as Xiaomi and Vivo, have some compelling foldable devices on offer in China. It’ll be nice to see them make their way to global markets. It seems like HONOR will lead the charge.
Based on the HONOR Magic V, we do have high hopes for this device
The HONOR Magic V ended up being a really compelling smartphone. We do have high hopes for its successor as well. Chances are HONOR won’t change much design-wise. It handled the design with care with the first-gen model, so there’s no need to make major changes.
The device will be fueled by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC, Qualcomm’s upcoming flagship. We also expected a powerful camera setup, and high-end specifications in general.
