HONOR has just announced that the Magic V3 is coming with the industry’s first ‘AI Defocus display technology’. This tech is said to reduce eye strain and user’s myopia aka nearsightedness.
The HONOR Magic V3 comes with the industry’s first ‘AI Defocus display technology’
HONOR actually separated this announcement into three sections. The first one is ‘Enhanced Eye Protection’. The HONOR Magic V3 utilizes AI algorithms that simulate traditional optical methods. They reduce “eye strain and transient myopia by incorporating defocus signals in screen layers”.
The HONOR Magic V3, in addition to AI Defocus, also has ultra-high PWM dimming for reduced screen flicker. That also helps with eye strain and protects your eyes.
The second point that HONOR highlighted is ‘Myopia Control’. Myopia rates are rising all over the globe, says the company. The AI Defocus display technology is inspired by “defocus incorporated multiple segments (DIMS)”, which are used in specialized glasses to prevent axial elongation of eye signals.
The AI Defocus display tech managed to reduce nearwork-industry transient myopia
HONOR added that lab tests showed that AI Defocus reduced nearwork-industry transient myopia by 13° on average and increased central choroid thickness after just 25 minutes of screen time.
The last section that HONOR mentioned is ‘Expanding App Support’. HONOR’s AI Defocus tech is currently compatible with YouTube and Amazon Kindle. However, the company is planning to extend it to support more apps in the future. No specific apps were mentioned, though.
As many of you already know, the global HONOR Magic V3 will become official soon. It will launch on September 5 in Berlin, as part of IFA. That phone already launched in China, by the way, this is only its global variant.
The HONOR Magic V3 is the world’s thinnest and lightest book-style foldable. HONOR is once again moving up the ante, as it did with the Magic V2 last year.
