He is already first president to be impeached twice.

Well, it took a while to get here, but it seems Donald Trump’s infamous x/Twitter rants are back — this time taking aim at Democrats, whom he claims are “out of their minds.”

President Trump has been dominating media coverage since the mark of his second 100 days in office, with a blunder-filled streak where he showed indifference toward small businesses, mocked Catholicism, and even said “I don’t know” to a softball question about whether he believes it’s the president’s job to uphold the Constitution.

Despite the House leaning Republican — meaning any impeachment bill would require GOP support — Michigan Democratic Rep. Shri Thanedar still filed articles of impeachment against Trump. According to The Hill, Rep. Thanedar justified the move by releasing a statement that partly read: “When Trump ignores the Constitution, Congress, and the courts, he is not ‘fighting for America.’ He is tearing it down and endangering our democracy.”

While none of the claims are without merit, The Hill also noted that due to the deep loyalty Republicans have shown to Trump, it’s unlikely the articles of impeachment will “go anywhere.” Trump, more than anyone, knows this. Still, he took to X to unleash a tirade — seemingly more offended by the audacity of Rep. Thanedar to even dare perform his constitutional duty than by the allegations themselves. Trump made unverified claims that it’s actually the Democrats who committed multiple crimes during the election and accused them of fueling Iran’s prosperity. He went as far as to say they deserve expulsion from Congress and hinted at punishing the Democrats with something “worse,” though he didn’t elaborate.

With this directionless rant, he aims to turn anyone sane enough to support the Democrats against them by fabricating his brand of fake accusations and painting them as the villains in the eyes of the MAGA, so his glaringly concerning actions are not called into question.

President Trump has been facing criticism from across the globe. And while his administration has tried to deflect it — often through obnoxious memes posted on official government accounts — Trump has shown his hand multiple times. His go-to strategy when under fire has been to either deflect blame onto former President Biden or to try to scare off his critics.

At first, the intimidation tactics seemed to work. Several institutions rolled back DEI programs, for instance. However, over time, some notable voices in education and law have begun to push back. And that defiance is what Trump seems most desperate to intimidate now. In doing so, he’s not only losing allies like Joe Rogan — who recently warned Trump against “becoming monsters” over the way he’s handling deportations, according to ABC — but he’s also solidifying long-held fears among critics who see his latest tirade as a march toward dictatorship.

One user on X pointed to Trump’s disregard for the rule of law, arguing that it should be enough to impeach him — a fair assessment, since similar grounds were enough to bring down Nixon.

Another put it bluntly: “Trump is destroying the country.”

It’s unlikely that this impeachment effort will actually remove Trump from office. But if the added pressure is revealing his true nature even to his biggest allies, then it may still be a worthy pursuit. As for Trump — and his Kanye-esque rants — this is unlikely to be the last one.
