Here’s What Stock Wear OS 3 Should Look Like On A Non-Samsung Watch

As it currently stands the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 is the only way to get access to Wear OS 3, but a recent posting of emulator images for the stock build might give us an opportunity to see what it will look like on non-Samsung smartwatches.

The build of these images was recently posted to the Wear OS subreddit, which was then noticed by Mishaal Rahman. Rahman then shared these images on his Twitter feed. And although the design of things may change between now and when the software is actually available, this appears to be the first look at how Google plans to implement the design for other watch partners.

The stock design for Wear OS 3 looks different from the Galaxy Watch 4

If you already have a Galaxy Watch 4, or have at least seen one, you know what Wear OS 3 looks like on that device. Google’s stock build of the Wear OS 3 software looks slightly different from that of the Galaxy Watch 4.

One of the more notable design touches is the gradient styling on options or features that are toggled on in the various menus of the watch. As Mashaal Rahman points out, these help distinguish the enabled features a little better.

Aside from helping set them apart, it also adds a little bit of flair and makes things look not so boring or flat. Though, this is more of an opinion.

Other changes include a smaller UI for editing tiles, and other minor touches like curved titles for watches faces. Which span in an arc-like design across the top of a watch face preview in that particular menu.

Wear OS 3 isn’t slated to reach other Wear OS smartwatches until sometime in 2022. So it’s likely to be a while before any watches have this sort of design. For now, the Galaxy Watch 4 remains the only way to officially access the software. At least, on a watch and be able to interact with it.

But Google will eventually release the software for additional partners so they push out those updates. This should include the likes of Mobvoi with a few of TicWatch models, as well as Fossil, Fitbit, and others.
