The Google Pixel 6 is no stranger to bugs, and we have already come across a few of them since the flagship’s release a couple of months ago. Although the December Pixel update seems to have fixed a handful of bugs, some Pixel 6 users are facing network connectivity issues after the update. We’re now coming across a potential fix for this particular concern, and it’s not as tricky as you may think.

This unofficial fix comes from Reddit and was first reported by Android Police (via). All it takes to fix the network connectivity bug is to tinker with the Carrier Services app on the Play Store.

Carrier Services is a Google app that manages mobile networks on your device. Users simply have to head over to the Play Store listing for Carrier Services, scroll all the way down to find the “Join the beta” section. Press Join and wait for the signup process to finish in the background. This could take a minute or two, so be patient.

Google will likely patch the connectivity bug with the January 2022 Pixel update

After you’ve successfully joined the beta, scroll to the top of the Carrier Services listing and tap the “Update” button. These two steps should do enough to help restore your mobile network on the Pixel 6 or Pixel 6 Pro.

But if the problem persists, a couple of additional steps should likely fix it. Head over to the settings menu on your Pixel, tap Apps, and open Carrier Services. From here, you’ll have to tap the “Force stop” button and then head over to the Storage section under settings to clear the app data. Lastly, users should reboot their devices to ensure the changes take full effect.

Based on the comments under the original Reddit post, this fix works for a majority of the users. Moreover, some claim that network connectivity is now significantly better than it ever was with the Pixel 6. We must point out again that this is not a confirmed fix, so be sure to proceed at your own risk.

This bug will likely be fixed with next month’s security update. But if you can’t wait until then, this is a remedy certainly worth trying.
