When House of the Dragon premiered on Aug.21, 2022, fans were curious to know if the new show would live up to the success of Game of Thrones in terms of storyline, performance, and most importantly, whether the cast members would manage a similar level of fame and stardom as their counterparts.

It seems like there’s no complaint on that fron, as the show’s star-studded ensemble perfectly fit into the charm, aura, and imposing presence of the Targaryens enough to create a solidified fan base for themselves.

While the viewers were glad to finally be treated to the Targaryen rule (something they only heard about in Game of Thrones), they have a special casting request for the role of the most prominent Targaryen family member, Aegon I Targaryen-the founder and the first ruler of the dynasty.

The actor who has been selected by the fans for this role is none other than the former The Witcher star, Henry Cavill. Cavill’s immense popularity is not surprising, and on top of that, audiences have gotten acquainted with him playing a long-haired, rugged Geralt of Rivia, a historical figure in a fantastical realm.

Thus, ever since the Targaryens were introduced to the audience starting from the reign of Viserys Targaryen, millions have been wondering if the series which has proved itself as a solid, noteworthy sequel would consider going a few hundred years back, and show the creation of Westeros and ascension of Aegon I.

The latter, as is known, is the most influential Targaryen member who is synonymized with the founding of Westeros and the creation of the famous Iron Throne. As intriguing as the story sounds, the fans want to see how it plays out on the screen.

This mere thought and the possibility of Cavill being cast as Aegon I has led many social media users, especially Twitteratis, to make their own fan art depicting Cavill as Aegon. One of the Twitter users going by the username, deserted scope DMs NA posted a fan art of how Cavill could look as Aegon.

One can spot all the quintessential Targaryen features like long silver hair, golden cloak, red robe, and his dragon, Balerion by his side. The user also tweeted, “henry cavil as Aegon please.”

The Twitteratis responded to it with a trail of different posts all of them presenting a shared solidarity to see Cavill as ‘Aegon the Conqueror’.

While the possibility of this casting choice remains uncertain, fans would certainly love to see their favorite actor as the most fictional powerful historical figure.
