Google Stadium may actually become a reality in the English Premier League. For those of you out of the loop, the Premier League is the top football (soccer, for those of you in the US) league in England.

‘Google Stadium’ may make its way to the Premier League, as Google is in negotiations

Having said that, according to the latest report, Google is actually negotiating to get the naming rights to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Tottenham Hotspur is a team that is playing in the Premier League. It’s also a team who qualified for this year’s Champions League.

The agreement hasn’t been reached yet, but the negotiations are ongoing. The Tottenham Hotspur stadium is only three years old, by the way. The information about the negotiations are coming from The Athletic’s David Ornstein.

Google and Tottenham are in “meaningful talks”, according to the information. We’re not even sure that the final name would be ‘Google Stadium’, but that is the first name that comes to mind.

A number of teams in the Premier League opted for a similar partnership

Tottenham Hotspur wouldn’t be the first team in the Premier League to have its stadium named in such a way, not at all. Quite a few teams have opted to do something like that. That is actually a common practice in the world of football.

Let’s take Arsenal, for example, another high-profile team from the Premier League. Their stadium is called the ‘Emirates Stadium’. Arsenal is also located in London, as is Tottenham Hotspur.

This wouldn’t be the first time Google is sponsoring a sports team, but it would be the biggest deal yet. Google did agree on deals with McLaren F1, and also agreed on deals with some teams in the NBA and MLB, says 9to5Google.

Needless to say, getting its name on this stadium would give Google a ton of exposure. Tottenham Hotspur is quite a popular team in the Premier League, and it’s a regular participant in the Champions League.
