Temu has become one of the first developers to adopt Android’s new “dialog full-screen dim” feature, according to Google’s Android Developers Blog.
The blog highlights Temu as an example of how this innovation improves user experience. The recognition follows Temu’s selection as an Editors’ Choice app on the Google Play Store.
Part of Jetpack WindowManager 1.4, the feature gives developers greater control over background dimming in dialogs. They can choose to dim only the dialog container or the entire task window, creating a more seamless and cohesive interface.
Temu has implemented this feature in its Android app, reducing unintended screen touches by about 5%. This helps users stay engaged with key information while maintaining a polished UI that aligns with modern Android design principles.
By dimming the entire screen when a reminder appears, Temu ensures users focus on key actions, such as tracking preferred stores or selecting the correct region while browsing. The feature minimizes accidental dismissals, leading to smoother navigation.
Temu was named the Top Free iPhone App and the Top Free Android App of 2024 by Sensor Tower. By integrating this feature, Temu further enhances the shopping experience on tablets and foldable phones.
