Alphabet, Google’s parent company, published Q4 2022 earnings, and had something interesting to say as part of it. It seems like Google gained “great momentum” with the Pixel 6a and Pixel 7 series smartphones.
Google managed to get “great momentum” with the Pixel 6a & Pixel 7 series phones
That is coming from Google’s CEO himself, Sundar Pichai. He also included ‘Cloud’ and ‘YouTube subscriptions’ into the mix, as those aspects of business are also doing immensely well for the company, and keep on growing.
When it comes to Pixels, Pichai didn’t stop here. Not at all. He mentioned that the Pixel 6, 7, and 7 Pro are the “best selling generation of phones we have ever launched, and we gained share in every market we operate in this year”. Needless to say, these are major news, and it will give Google the needed boost to continue going in the right direction.
Pixel phones are officially available in 17 countries now. That number stood at 13, but Google expanded the availability to Denmark, the Netherlands, Norway, and Sweden this year.
Sundar Pichai noted that the company’s “computing portfolio” is “incredibly important”
Pichai noted the company’s “computing portfolio” as “incredibly important”. He was talking not only about the Pixel phones, but also various services that come included, such as Magic Eraser and Photo Unblur. The Pixel Watch is also included in the equation.
Unfortunately, we don’t really know how many Pixel phones Google sold. Google doesn’t share the details in that regard, so we can’t have that info. The company seems to be more than happy, though.
The Pixel phone sales are a part of Google’s “other” revenues. That’s where the Play Store is included too, and the same goes for non-advertising YouTube revenues, Google reported $8.79 billion in revenue for Q4 2022, in that sector. That is an increase YoY (Year-over-Year), as the results for the Q4 2021 were $8.16 billion in revenue… for the “other revenues” sector.
Overall for 2022, however, Google reported revenue of $76 billion, in case you were wondering. You can check out the company’s detailed breakdown by clicking here.
