Talk of war might also split MAGA.

The Trump administration has chosen the White House official X page to share a text the Ambassador to Israel, Mike Huckabee, sent to the president. It’s disturbing in quite a few ways, but the blatant hero-worship has even the people who follow the account taken aback.

Make no mistake, the White House page on X is nowadays not to be taken seriously — and that’s by Trump’s own words, after he told off critics of the page posting an image of him draped up as the new pope. But there’s just something about Amb. Huckabee that went beyond the typical cringefest that Trump’s appointees usually inspire when they try to lie and feign ignorance over something obvious.

The former Arkansas governor was using religious symbolism, telling Trump “God spared you” and saying “HIS voice” is in Trump’s ear. Amb. Huckabee even suggested that Trump might be the most consequential president ever — only comparable to President Harry Truman. Now, it’s not entirely clear what Amb. Huckabee is alluding to, but it does look like he is sounding the drums of war.

Tensions have surged between Israel and Iran, and despite President Trump’s campaign suggesting that he is the only anti-war option — he has since gone back on that claim and said that he’s not looking for a ceasefire between the two Middle East nations. As Iran and Israel trade missiles and all nations are trying to find a definitive way to end this conflict with as little bloodshed as possible, Amb. Huckabee is drawing historical parallels with Truman — who ended World War II through atomic bombings of Nagasaki and Hiroshima, where some estimates suggest that over 200,000 people died.

As things stand, it seems Trump’s administration has endorsed that text message. President Trump has always liked to be seen as special and strong, and a text like this is probably catnip for him. Some people in the comments took issue with the religious tone of the text and questioned whether Trump was divinely called. One even made a joke using the famous Captain America gif mocking the people who thought the Trump administration would “end wars.”

These talks of escalating the war in the Middle East aren’t just splitting world leaders who don’t want to be in the midst of a growing war — they’re also splitting the MAGA base itself. Prominent figures within the movement — who have very questionable pasts of their own — such as Tucker Carlson, are continuously asking how any of this is beneficial to the prosperity of the U.S.

The blend of faith and geopolitics is not necessarily new, but it does point to a strategic shift in messaging. Amb. Huckabee is placing God at the center of his call to arms because ultimately there’s no questioning God and what He’s apparently saying in Trump’s ear. The war between Iran and Israel is still ongoing, with all media houses reporting various attacks and regular civilians posting videos of missiles in the night sky. Israel is currently claiming that they’re only attacking Iran’s weapons facilities, and Trump is currently calling for an unconditional surrender of the Iranian regime.

This story is still evolving.
