What’s on Netflix has learned that the competition reality series Glow Up (also known as Glow Up Britain’s Next Make-Up Star) will return for season 6, with production already starting on the new series.
For those unfamiliar, the competition series pits ten aspiring makeup artists against each other as they compete across eight episodes for the top prize. Previous winners of the show have included Ellis Atlantis, Sophie Baverstock, Yong-Chin Breslin, and, most recently, Saphron Morgan. The show’s hosting duties were passed over to Leomie Anderson for Season 5, with judges Val Garland and Dominic Skinner having been involved with the show since season 1.
The title is labeled as a Netflix Original in all international regions outside the United Kingdom, with the BBC carrying it as an original title on BBC Three. That said, the show arrived on Netflix in the United Kingdom as a licensed title after an exclusivity window lapses.
Netflix began showing the series in 2019, with new seasons arriving annually every year after that. The most recent season, season 5, dropped on the service in September 2023. That season has yet to arrive on Netflix UK and is available exclusively on BBC iPlayer.
Multiple employees connected to the show list themselves as having begun working on season 6 (or series 6 as it’s sometimes referred to) as early as September 2023, with filming likely taking place since then, too. A casting call for the series was issued on TikTok in October 2023.
Warner Bros. International Television Production UK handles is behind the show for the BBC and Netflix.
In other Netflix reality TV news, we confirmed last week that Drink Masters is due to return for a season 2. Other returning Netflix Original reality titles returning for additional seasons include Selling Sunset, The Circle, Is It Cake?, Buying Beverly Hills, Love Village, Perfect Match, Outlast, and Zombieverse.
If you need something to watch, Netflix in the US recently licensed the Syfy make-up competition series Face Off. While the creations on that show are often a little more eccentric, it’ll provide a nice stopgap while you’re waiting for season 6.
