The Galaxy S25 series’ arrival is just around the corner. Samsung hasn’t revealed an official launch date, but all signs point to it happening later this month. According to leaks, one of the big highlights in the lineup will be the presence of Snapdragon hardware across all models. The global version of the Galaxy S25+, which has the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip, has now been seen on Geekbench.
Snapdragon 8 Elite-powered Galaxy S25+ for global markets appears on Geekbench
The Samsung Galaxy S25+ spotted on the benchmark platform has the model number SM-S931B. In addition to the more powerful Snapdragon chip for phones, the test unit features 12GB of RAM and runs Android 15. The device scored 2,986 and 9,355 points in Geekbench’s single-core and multi-core benchmarks, respectively.
While these are pretty high numbers, they are a bit below those seen on other Snapdragon 8 Elite-powered phones. However, the device could be a prototype unit. The version that hits stores could be more optimized.
At first, Samsung planned to put its own Exynos 2500 chip in most Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S25+ units. Unfortunately, constant problems with Samsung Foundry’s 3nm wafers prevented this. The low yield of the company’s factories made mass production of the chip commercially unviable. Samsung executives recently revealed that the situation has now been stabilized. However, it failed to do so in time for the implementation of the chip in the Galaxy S25 series.
Even if Samsung had sorted things out in time, it’s possible that the Exynos 2500 wouln’t have been on par with its direct rivals. A Galaxy S25 Plus equipped with such a chip passed through Geekbench this month, returning disappointing performance scores. The South Korean giant wants to use its newest top-of-the-line SoC in some foldables in 2025, like the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Galaxy Z Flip FE. However, they will have to work hard to optimize it in the coming months to achieve better results.
