If you’re an avid Fortnite player, then you’re used to shelling out money for some V-Bucks. How else are you going to deck out your character? Well, unfortunately, you might have to tighten your digital belt; V-bucks are about to get more expensive.
Right now, Epic Games, the company behind Fortnite, is going through some financial trouble. Recently, it had to lay off about 870 employees, which amounted to about 16% of its entire workforce. It’s feeling the impact of the current economic situation, so the company needed to make some choices.
One choice was making V-bucks more expensive
According to an announcement from the company (via The Verge), prices for V-bucks are going up in The US, Czech Republic, Denmark, Eurozone Countries, Hungary, Japan, Norway, Poland, Romania, Sweden, and Turkey. The price hike will happen on October 27th, so you still have plenty of time to stack up on your bucks before the price jumps.
The pack of 1,000 V-bucks will jump from $7.99 to $8.99. The pack of 2,800 V-bucks jumped 15% from $19.99 to $22.99. That’s a healthy jump in price. Moving down the line, the pack of 5,000 V-bucks went up about 16% from $31.99 to $36.99. Lastly, the pack of 13,500 V-bucks jumped up 12.5% from $79.99 to $89.99.
This price hike isn’t huge, fortunately. The $1 jump in the lowest tier is the least painful, and that’s the tier that most people probably get. If you like to shell out the big bucks and get the larger amounts, you’re more likely to feel the impact of the price hike.
This price change won’t only affect the V-bucks, you’ll see a price hike in other areas of the game. The Extinction Code Pack jumped up slightly from $3.99 to $4.49. Next, the Untask’d Courier hopped from $15.99 to $17.99. If you’re looking to gift someone a battle pass, the price for that jumped from $7.59 to $8.54.
