Google is seemingly quite generous towards Gmail when it comes to adding features and we are not complaining either. Today, the company has announced that it is rolling out a “Gmail Q&A” search feature powered by Gemini on Android. By the name itself, you might have guessed what it is for. Google says it is “a new way to search your inbox with Gemini.”

Earlier in June, Google announced the general availability of Gemini in the side panel of Gmail on the desktop web. This feature allowed users to summarize emails, look up their inboxes, and do much more. Now, the company is bringing the same experience with a new inbox search feature on Android which it calls “Gmail Q&A.”
Well, nothing has changed as for the functionality. However, the on-screen experience of the Gmail Q&A search on Android is a bit different. With the feature in place, the Gmail search bar will shrink to display a Gemini sparkle right next to your profile image or initials (at the top right).
Unlike, the desktop web view where Gemini appeared in the side panel, you will see the Gemini “How can I help you today?” panel taking over the bottom part of the Gmail app screen featuring different suggestions. You can enter the full prompt on that panel or even expand it to take up the entire screen.
The feature can be useful in many ways and is coming soon to iOS too
The Gmail Q&A search for Android allows you to do multiple things with the help of Gemini. You can search for specific details from an email or ask Gemini to display unread messages from a particular sender. Gemini can also help you summarize emails about a topic from your inbox. Honestly, there is a lot of usage.
Google says the Gmail Q&A for Android will help boost your productivity to get done more during the day from your desk and on the go, with the magic of Gemini. The first impression of the feature undoubtedly looks pretty neat and handy. If you are an iOS user, you can expect it to come your way soon, though Google hasn’t specified any timeline.
