If you’ve been experiencing issues trying to play games with GeForce NOW, you’re not the only one, as the service has been hit with a global outage that has stopped players from booting up games.
The good news is that NVIDIA has acknowledged the problem and immediately got work addressing how to fix it. On the GeForce NOW service status page, there’s an alert that mentions the global outage for GeForce NOW services for all subscribers. NVIDIA began investigating the issue around 9:50 AM PST on March 21. Not long after, a new alert popped up around 11:28 AM PST that said a fix was implemented. Following the fix, NVIDIA is now monitoring the results. Presumably to be sure that the outage doesn’t resurface.
As it stands right now the service does seem to be working. Having checked on multiple devices, we were able to personally log into a few different games and stream them over the cloud. This included checking Starfield, Forza Horizon 5, and The Ascent. All were able to launch without an issue. Save for the occasional frame drop because of the Wi-Fi network. All-in-all, the outage seems to have subsided, for now. Having said that, this doesn’t mean that there aren’t still people having problems.
While we were able to get the service working, you may have different results. So keep that in mind along with the fact that NVIDIA is monitoring the situation.
PSN went down around the same time as the GeForce NOW global outage
GeForce NOW wasn’t the only service experiencing issues this morning. Right around the same time it was having outage problems, PSN went down. Resulting in players on the PS4 and PS5 being unable to use certain features. Among those was the inability to access the PlayStation Store for game purchases. However, this issue also seems to have been mostly fixed.
In the past hour or so, trying to access the store from the browser website or the PS app resulted in getting nothing more than an “oops, something went wrong” message. All after waiting more than a few minutes for the page to load. Some reported being able to get into the store and add games to their cart, but not finalize the checkout. We can confirm that at least for us, PSN is now working again. As we were able to get into the store and purchase Rise of the Ronin for PS5. But again, your results may vary depending on where you’re located.
For the moment, both GeForce NOW and PSN seem to be working relatively fine. So if you had issues accessing either before, give them another try as things may be up and running. As 9To5Google mentioned, the GeForce NOW outage returned results of an error in their brief testing. But that was earlier this morning shortly after the outage started.
