The upcoming Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 Slim may not be as thin as it should be. This information comes from TheElec, a Korean outlet. According to the report, the phone will be around 11mm thick.
The Galaxy Z Fold 6 Slim may not be as thin as you expect it to be
That means it will be noticeably thinner than the Galaxy Z Fold 6. Samsung flagship foldable is 12.7mm thick. It won’t, however, be as thin as some of the competition from China, though.
The HONOR Magic V3 is 9.3mm thick when folded, while its predecessor measures 9.9mm. The Vivo X Fold 3 is 10.2mm thick, while the Xiaomi MIX Fold 4 is 9.5mm thick.
If the report from TheElec is true, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 Slim won’t reach the thinness of its Chinese rivals. As a reminder, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 Slim seems to be coming, but it won’t be readily available to everyone.
The phone is said to be coming to the Chinese and Korean markets, and that’s it. It won’t launch in global markets, based on the information that we have at the moment.
This phone will have larger displays than its sibling
What is also rumored is that the Galaxy Z Fold 6 Slim will have larger displays than its sibling. It will have a 6.5-inch cover display and an 8-inch main display. Samsung is allegedly planning to manufacture 500,000 to 600,000 Galaxy Z Fold 6 Slim units.
The Galaxy Z Fold 6 Slim could be Samsung’s way of feeling out the market. Considering that a number of the Galaxy Z Fold 6 competitors are noticeably slimmer, Samsung may want to find out how will users react to a slimmer version of the Fold 6.
And yes, you can feel the difference, that’s for sure. A couple of mm may not seem like a lot, but you do notice it when using the phone, easily. While the HONOR Magic V2, for example, feels like a regular (non-foldable) smartphone in the hand when folded, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 does not.
