According to a new rumor, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 will have a much larger cover display than the Flip 4. In fact, it will have an even bigger cover display than the recently-announced OPPO Find N2 Flip.
The Galaxy Z Flip 5 will feature a larger cover display than Flip 4 & OPPO Find N2 Flip
This information comes from Ice Universe, a well-known tipster. That alone gives it credibility, as Ice Universe is usually spot on. How much larger will it be? Well, the tipster did not say, but he did give us a minimum size in his tweet.
The Galaxy Z Flip 4 features a 1.9-inch cover panel. The OPPO Find N2 Flip includes a 3.26-inch cover display. Considering that the Galaxy Z Flip 5’s display will be larger than the Find N2 Flip’s, based on this info, that display will be larger than 3.26 inches. So it could be almost twice the size of the Galaxy Z Flip 4’s cover panel.
It could also be vertical, we’ll see
Does this also mean that the Galaxy Z Flip 5 will get a vertical cover display? Well, that would make the most sense, but it doesn’t have to be. The OPPO Find N2 Flip does have such a panel, though.
You cannot control the OPPO Find N2 Flip fully via the cover display, not at all. Its cover display works similarly to the Flip 4’s, actually. OPPO does plan to add more functionality to that cover panel, though.
The fact that the outer display will be larger on the Galaxy Z Flip 4 is a good thing, as long as Samsung takes proper advantage of it. Only Motorola gives users a ton of functionality with cover displays on its foldables.
We do understand such limitations on small cover displays, but at 3.26 inches or larger, that’s plenty of screen real estate to work with. The Galaxy Z Flip 4 launched in August last year, and its successor will probably land in August this year.
