Samsung is preparing to bring back the physical rotating bezel on its smartwatches later this year. The company will launch the Galaxy Watch 6 Classic with the iconic bezel ring, while the vanilla model is expected to arrive with a curved glass design. According to the reputed tipster Ice Universe, the new Classic model will look a lot like the Galaxy Watch 4 Classic from 2021. It was the last Samsung smartwatch with a physical bezel.
A physical rotating bezel has been one of the standout features of Samsung smartwatches over the years. Despite several changes to the lineup, including a rebranding from Gear to Galaxy and a platform switch from Tizen to WearOS, the company kept the iconic bezel ring intact. In 2021, it launched two models of the Galaxy Watch 4 series, offering the bezel ring on the Classic model. Those who didn’t like its sporty and rugged resign had the sleeker vanilla model with a virtual rotating bezel.
However, in 2022, Samsung surprisingly removed the physical bezel. It launched two models of the Galaxy Watch 5 series, but instead of a Classic, it introduced a Pro model with a bonkers 590mAh battery. Thankfully, the company is now bringing back the bezel ring with the Galaxy Watch 6 series later this year. Like in 2021, it plans to launch a Classic model featuring a physical bezel. Both models will come in two sizes each for a total of four size options. Moreover, all watches will also be available in Bluetooth and cellular variants.
The latest word from the rumor mill is that the Galaxy Watch 6 will look similar to its 2021 sibling. It will reportedly share the same ridged physical bezel and time-scale design. The only notable difference is that the new model will have a narrower border around the display. The watch will still come in 42mm and 46mm sizes, though. Thus, narrower borders allow for a marginally bigger screen. The vanilla model, which will be available in 40mm and 44mm sizes, will also feature a slimmer bezel and a bigger screen.
Samsung may launch the Galaxy Watch 6 series earlier than expected
Samsung launched the Galaxy Watch 5 series in the second week of August last year. But the Galaxy Watch 6 lineup may arrive a couple of weeks earlier. The company reportedly wants to bring its latest foldables to the market as early as possible, and the new watches will come alongside them. We are hearing a late July unveiling of the Galaxy Watch 6, Galaxy Z Fold 5, Galaxy Z Flip 5, and a new pair of TWS earbuds. The dates haven’t been confirmed yet. We will let you know as soon as we have more information.
