Summary: The Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra won’t offer two 200MP cameras on the back. There is a specific reason for that, though, the SoC. It does not support a dual 200MP camera setup, though the tests were probably done on a current-gen chip like the Snapdragon 8 Elite. We still don’t know what will the next generation bring. Either way, don’t expect to see two 200MP cameras on Samsung’s next ‘Ultra’ flagship.
We’re already starting to see Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra rumors, despite the fact the phone’s launch is around 10 months away. We’ve already seen several camera-related rumors, and a new one just appeared.
The Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra will not have two 200MP cameras
This one comes from PandaFlashPro, a Chinese tipster. He claims that the Galaxy S26 Ultra won’t have two 200MP cameras for one reason… the SoC. It does not support a dual 200MP camera setup, otherwise Samsung would have likely used two of them.
It is worth noting that this is likely based on the tests made with the Snapdragon 8 Elite, not the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2 which will likely fuel the Galaxy S26 Ultra. The Snapdragon 8 Elite does support a single camera up to 320MP, though.
We still don’t know what the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2 will deliver, but it’s kind of unlikely it will allow for two 200MP camera sensors. We are only guessing, who knows, perhaps Qualcomm ends up surprising us.
Various different companies are now using 200MP cameras
Companies have started using 200MP camera sensors. Samsung is using one as the main camera sensor, while some other companies like Vivo are using such camera sensors for periscope telephoto cameras.
In all honesty, if Samsung had the opportunity to do it, the company could use one for the main camera and the other for the periscope telephoto camera. Both of those sections could use improvements on the company’s flagship offerings, so… it would be nice to see. That’s not something we’ll be seeing with the Galaxy S26 Ultra, though, it seems.
