[Update: Samsung has confirmed with Andriod Authority that it was a mistake in the blog post]

The Galaxy S25 Ultra brings a few improvements over previous generations. However, the new S Pen isn’t as feature-rich as before, as it lost support for Bluetooth connectivity and thus related features. A Samsung blog post from a few days ago said that the company would sell a Bluetooth S Pen for the Galaxy S25 Ultra separately, which made some people happy. Sadly, it seems that it’s all a communication error.

Samsung’s official blog claims that a Galaxy S25 Ultra’s Bluetooth S Pen exists, but it doesn’t

On January 24, a Samsung Insights post mentioned a “Bluetooth-enabled S Pen (now sold separately).” Interestingly, the phrase is still present at the time of writing this story. However, the South Korean giant didn’t mention anything about it during the launch of the Galaxy S25 series. In fact, the company had already confirmed that Bluetooth connectivity would be taken away from the stylus because of how little people used it. If you’re not aware, Bluetooth support enabled Air Gestures to quickly trigger actions.

In the wake of the confusion, SamMobile attempted to get confirmation on the existence of a Bluetooth-enabled S Pen for the Galaxy S25 Ultra, to no avail. The outlet suggests that it may all be a mix-up stemming from articles written by independent contributors. The post’s author could have been relying on tech specs from previous generations of Samsung’s stylus. The same could have happened with an Amazon UK listing that mentions Air Gestures support on Samsung’s latest, most premium phone.

Removing Bluetooth connectivity from the S Pen allowed Samsung to make it slightly lighter. However, the previous version was especially heavy. We don’t have specific data on how much Galaxy S24 Ultra owners were relying on Air Gestures. Anyway, a section of them will probably miss the feature if they switch to the new model.

Currently, the Galaxy S25 series is available for pre-order with shipping set to begin in February.
