Samsung‘s Galaxy S25 Ultra may feature a distinct design not seen on any previous Galaxy phone. A reliable tipster recently compared its design with the infamous Galaxy Note 7, but specifically for the curvature of the corners. The same source says the 2025 model will bring changes to the frame too.

Galaxy S25 Ultra could have asymmetrical frame design on the front and back

According to X tipster Ice Universe, the Galaxy S25 Ultra’s frame will look different from the front and back. The front edge of the frame touching the screen is straighter than the rear edge, which is said to be more rounded. The Galaxy S24 Ultra has equally sharp edges on both sides.

Since the 2025 model will also allegedly depart from sharp corners to rounded ones, this is a fitting change that makes the phone curved from the back. On the front, the Galaxy S25 Ultra will retain a flat display, so the edge remains flat too. Samsung is trying to do away with the current model’s boxy design in a subtle manner. While it isn’t too uncomfortable to hold, a rounded or curved back will certainly feel easier on hand.

The tipster adds that Samsung will keep the width largely unchanged from the Galaxy S24 Ultra, give or take a few fractions of a millimeter (mm). However, it has narrowed the bulky frame, reducing the overall bezel width around the screen. These changes might make the Galaxy S25 Ultra look more premium, though some Galaxy fans might not be happy with Samsung waving goodbye to the boxy design popularized by the Note lineup.

The Ultra flagships were made boxy in the first place to replace the Note series. The last model in the lineup, the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra from 2020, had sharp corners and a built-in S Pen. The Galaxy S22 Ultra, the first S series model to feature a built-in S Pen, was largely inspired by its discontinued Note sibling. Note fans loved it. But Samsung is now going back to a curved design like the Galaxy S21 Ultra and older models.

Samsung has started gathering regulatory certifications for 2025 flagships

The Galaxy S25 series consisting of three models—base, Plus, and Ultra—will debut in early 2025. We are probably still some time away from more detailed leaks. Samsung, meanwhile, has already started obtaining regulatory certifications for its 2025 flagship trio. The upcoming phones recently picked up battery certifications from the BIS (Bureau of Indian Standards). The pieces of the puzzle should gradually come together in the coming months.
