According to a new report, Samsung could actually ditch Exynos SoC for the Galaxy S25 series in order to use the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 exclusively. This report comes from Hankyung, from China.
The entire Galaxy S25 series is tipped to ditch Exynos SoC
Based on this report, all three Galaxy S25 smartphones will end up using the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4. The Exynos 2500 was rumored thus far, as it was supposed to fuel the Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S25+ phones in some regions.
Well, if this report is to be believed, that won’t be the case. The report alleges that Samsung changed its direction. If that ends up being the case, it will differ from what Samsung did this year.
The Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24+ are fueled by both a Snapdragon and an Exynos SoC. It all depends on in which region you end up buying each device. The Galaxy S24 Ultra is exclusively using the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy SoC.
We were expecting a similar setup for the Galaxy S25 series, but that may not be the case. Do note that nothing is set in stone at the moment. Take this report with a grain of salt, we’ve seen quite a few of them thus far.
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 is coming in October
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 is coming in October. Qualcomm confirmed that much way back at MWC this year. That chip is expected to bring notable AI and GPU performance improvements, by over 30%.
We’re still not that close to the Galaxy S25 series launch, so things could still change. All three smartphones are expected to arrive in January next year. Well, that’s if Samsung doesn’t change its release cycle, of course.
The company is expected to change up the design of all three smartphones this time around, at least a little bit. We may already know what the Galaxy S25 Ultra will look like, as a well-known tipster revealed that info.
