Samsung Galaxy S24 series in China and the US start getting the One UI 6.1.1 update

Samsung recently announced it was ready to deploy the One UI 6.1.1 update. The South Korean tech giant first released the update in its home country. Now Galaxy S24 series devices in the US and China are getting the update.

Samsung Galaxy S24 users in the US can expect to get the update on their devices in the next few days. Specifically speaking, only the carrier-locked versions of the Galaxy S24 series devices are getting updated.

The update for the Galaxy S24 devices has two versions. Users in the US will firmware version S928USQU3AXH7, while those in China will get S9280ZHU3AXH7.

Despite having two separate versions, both variants reportedly have the same download size. Galaxy S24 users are urged to get the update over Wi-Fi because it is 2.8 GB in size.

How to get the latest One UI update and what does it offer?

Some reports suggest the One UI 6.1.1 update for the Samsung Galaxy S24 series includes the September 2024 security patch. However, a few others claim the September 2024 security patch is missing in the update as Samsung has embedded the August 2024 security patch.

Samsung smartphones usually alert the user about an update. However, users can manually seek out and download the update by heading over to the Settings app, navigating to Software Update, and tapping Download and Install.

The One UI 6.1.1 does not update the Samsung Galaxy S24 series devices to Android 15. However, the update is packed with multiple new features and functions.

The update includes Sketch to Image, Portrait Studio, improvements to Composer, Live Translate support in third-party calling and messaging apps, and Listening Mode for Interpreter. Needless to mention, most of the aforementioned features rely on Generative Artificial Intelligence (Gen AI).

Some of the other notable features of the One UI 6.1.1 update are Live Effects for portrait photos, Energy Score for Samsung Health, and much more. Even the humble My Files app has received an interesting and useful feature.
