Samsung is rolling out a new software update to the Galaxy S22 series. It comes less than a month after the devices received the May security update, which came almost a week ahead of time as well. While it’s still too early for the June security patch, the latest Samsung flagships are getting some stability improvements.

The latest update for the Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22+, and Galaxy S22 Ultra is now rolling out in over a dozen countries, SamMobile has confirmed. The OTA (over the air) rollout seems to be currently limited to regions where the devices get the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor, such as India and the UAE. But it shouldn’t be long before the Exynos 2200-powered units get on the act too. The new firmware version for the Snapdragon variants is S908EXXU2AVE4.

With the OTA package weighing in at around 350MB, this is a decently big update for the Galaxy S22 trio. But the official changelog doesn’t mention anything notable. Samsung simply says the new software package will bring about improved stability of functions. Perhaps the Korean firm has squashed some bugs and optimized various device functions now that it has more data about any potential software anomaly. As such, this update may significantly improve your user experience even though it doesn’t pack any new features.

This update for the new Samsung flagships should reach more regions over the next few days. Once it becomes available for your unit, you will get a notification to download it over the air. You can also manually check for updates from the Software update menu in the device’s Settings app. If it doesn’t show any pending OTA update, check back again a few days later. In the meantime, should we discover any major new addition with the latest update, we will surely let you know.

Samsung may release the June security update next week

Samsung has made it a habit of releasing a new security patch to its devices ahead of time. It has consistently done so for well over a year now. The rollout begins days before we flip the calendar to the new month. We expect it to continue the trend and start rolling out the June SMR (Security Maintenance Release) in the last week of May.

While the Galaxy S22 series was the first to receive the May SMR, the devices could miss out on that feat for June since they are currently picking up another update. But with Samsung’s software commitment lately, you never know. We will keep you posted.
