Samsung‘s Galaxy S22 series has passed another hurdle ahead on its way to launch. The new devices have recently picked up the FCC certification. The American regulatory agency has also certified the S Pen that will accompany the Ultra model, which may end up being called the Galaxy S22 Note. The LED View Cover for the phones received approval as well.
This listing doesn’t reveal anything new about the phones themselves that we don’t already know, which is to be expected with an FCC certification. We can find technical info about the wireless connectivity standards of the upcoming flagships. All three models — Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22+, and Galaxy S22 Ultra/Note — will come with multi-band LTE and 5G support, including UWB (ultra-wideband) 5G.
Other notable takeaways from this FCC certification listing for the Galaxy S22 series include support for 802.11b/g/n/ax WLAN (Wi-Fi), 802.11a/n/ac/ax UNII (5GHz and 6GHz), Bluetooth (1x, EDR, LE), NFC, and Wireless Power Transfer aka wireless charging.
Additionally, we have some information about the operation frequency range and output power of the S Pen. The stylus pen bears the model number EJ-PS908 and will operate in a frequency range of 2402 – 2480MHz. The unit will have maximum RF output power of 0.675 mW.
Lastly, the LED View Cover bears the model number EF-NS901, EF-NS906, and EF-NS908 for the Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22+, and Galaxy S22 Ultra/Note respectively. It is an NFC-powered cover that Samsung will sell separately. You can see the schematics of the cover taken from the FCC certification below.
Galaxy S22 picks up the FCC certification ahead of launch
Reports suggest that Samsung will unveil the Galaxy S22 series in February 2022, with sales beginning later that month. But we have already seen and heard a lot about the trio. So much so that there’s hardly anything left to the imagination. We even have an idea of the possible pricing structure. You can find everything we know so far about the phones in our preview articles that we update regularly: Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22+, and Galaxy S22 Ultra/Note.
Along with uncountable leaks, the Galaxy S22 series has also been appearing in official certification listings for some time now. The recent sighting on FCC’s website is another indication that the new Samsung flagships are getting closer to their much-anticipated launch. The company has also started adding support pages for the devices on its official websites. You can expect to hear more about the Galaxy S22 trio in the coming weeks.
