Galaxy S22 Pre-Orders Are Seeing Massive Delivery Delays

Samsung is enjoying an overwhelming demand for its latest flagship products — the Galaxy S22 smartphone trio and the Galaxy Tab S8 tablet trio. The new devices have received record-breaking pre-orders in several markets across the world. The Korean firm is claiming more than double the number of pre-orders from the preceding models. But such high demand is now causing massive shipping delays, with people having to wait months for the delivery of their devices.

We already knew Samsung is struggling to keep up with the demand for the Galaxy S22 and the Galaxy Tab S8 devices. It halted pre-orders for the latter in the US just a few days after opening. The company is expecting some storage and color variants of the Galaxy S22 trio to remain out of stock for up to three months. That’s despite it ramping up productions by 20 percent. Well, that was never going to be enough when the demand has more than doubled.

But it is not just a delayed general availability of the new Galaxy flagships we are looking at. Samsung is struggling to ship out pre-order units as well. Several customers are reporting that the expected delivery for the products has been delayed by weeks, or in some cases, months (via). Most of these customers may have already paid the full price for the device, which they haven’t even seen. They are blindly trusting the company with their money. Delayed delivery is the least they’d hope for.

Of course, it’s not like everyone who had pre-ordered a Galaxy S22 or Galaxy Tab S8 is seeing such delays. Many customers have already received their units. But, unfortunately, some others will have to wait for months for theirs.

Samsung should have prepared better

Samsung had anticipated this sky-high demand for the Galaxy S22 series.  For its part, the company did increase the production of the new devices. But that was never going to be enough. The ongoing chip shortage may have caused production delays but Samsung should have prepared itself better for this situation.

Meanwhile, if you’re looking to buy the new Samsung flagships, you might want to check for stock at your local authorized retailer rather than placing an order online. The Galaxy S22 Ultra, in particular, is selling like hotcakes everywhere. It brings the best of the Korean firm’s Galaxy S and now-discontinued Galaxy Note lineups. So it might be the most difficult model to find in stock.
