Samsung has released the July 2024 cumulative security update for several Galaxy Android smartphones. Interestingly, the updates cover the capable mid-range, carrier-locked Samsung Galaxy A54 and the affordable rugged Galaxy XCover 6 Pro as well.

Samsung has confirmed the July 2024 update for the Galaxy S21 FE (Fan Edition) will reportedly be available in different iterations depending on the country and cellular service provider. Specifically speaking, the firmware version G990EXXSAFXG3 will be available in Brazil, Guatemala, Panama, Paraguay, Trinidad, and Tobago.

The firmware version G990USQSCGXF3 is meant for the S21 FE available via AT&T, Comcast, Dish Wireless, US Cellular, and Xfinity Mobile networks in the US. The Galaxy S21 FE’s factory-unlocked version in the US should get either G990U1UESCGXF3 or G990U2SQSAGXF3.

According to SamMobile, only the carrier-locked variant of the Samsung Galaxy A54 is getting the latest July 2024 security update. Model number SM-A546U of the Galaxy A54 should receive firmware version A546USQS8CXG1 as an OTA (Over-the-air) update. Incidentally, the Galaxy A54 smartphone is eligible for One UI 7.0, which is rumored to be based on Android 15.

Samsung has also released firmware version G781USQSHHXF2 for its first-ever Fan Edition smartphone, the Galaxy S20 FE 5G. This update is also meant for the carrier-locked variant of the phone, bearing model number SM-G781U.

The Samsung Galaxy XCover 6 Pro, a budget-friendly IP68-rated smartphone, is also getting the July 2024 security update. The firmware version G736U1UES7EXF3 is for the carrier-unlocked variant of the smartphone, bearing model number SM-G736U1.

How to install the latest update on a Samsung Galaxy Android smartphone?

The July 2024 Android system update contains multiple security fixes. Samsung has indicated that the latest patch is applicable not just for the modern Qualcomm Snapdragon SoCs, but also older Exynos chipsets.

Previous reports have indicated the July 2024 security update contains patches for more than 50 vulnerabilities. A few of these vulnerabilities are “Critical”. Needless to say, all eligible Samsung Android smartphones should get this update as soon as possible.

If the eligible smartphone doesn’t issue an alert, users can head over to Settings » Software update » Download and Install menu to seek out the same. This update doesn’t include any new features or performance enhancements.
