Samsung has started rolling out the August 2024 security update to the Galaxy Note 20 series devices. Both the Galaxy Note 20 and Galaxy Note 20 Ultra units are getting the August 2024 update in the US. The new firmware for the Galaxy Note 20 series arrived soon after the company updated the Galaxy S24, S23, and S20 FE. The Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Fold 6 models also received the same treatment last week.
The Galaxy Note 20’s August 2024 update brings several security fixes
According to Samsung, the August 2024 update is very critical for its devices in terms of security. It fixes a handful of critical to moderate security problems in the software of Samsung products. The Galaxy Note 20’s August update is currently rolling out to the unlocked units of the device in the US. Notably, these Note series handsets using the Sprint and T-Mobile networks are also getting the new update.
The firmware of the Galaxy Note 20 series’ August update ends with the letters HXH1. The update doesn’t bring any new major features, apart from fixing the security problems. It’s worth mentioning that the Galaxy Note 20 and Note 20 Ultra were the last Note series devices from the brand. They are only getting security updates for a while. Their quota of OS and feature updates was over more than a year ago.
The Galaxy Note 20 series phone users can manually check if the new update is available or not. To do this, they just have to go to the phone’s Settings and then hit the Software update option. Samsung is expected to expand the availability of the new firmware update to other telecom operators and regions in the coming days.
The Galaxy S22 series also picks up the critical August update
Notably, Samsung has also started upgrading the Galaxy S22 series devices to the August security level update. The Galaxy S22, S22+, and S22 Ultra variants are receiving the new update in the USA. The build numbers of the new updates for these devices are S901USQS6EXG8, S906USQS6EXG8, and S908USQS6EXG8, respectively.
