Samsung has released the One UI 5.1 update for several more Galaxy devices. The Galaxy Note 20 series, Galaxy A53 5G, and Galaxy A33 5G are getting the new One UI version. The update has already reached a host of other Galaxy smartphones, including the Galaxy S22 series.
The Galaxy Note 20 series was the first to receive the February 2023 Android security patch. But the update arrived too early for Samsung to bundle One UI 5.1 with it. Now, the company has released a second update for the Note phones in as many weeks to push its latest One UI iteration to them. Both 4G and 5G models of the Galaxy Note 20 and Galaxy Note 20 Ultra appear to be getting One UI 5.1.
As of this writing, the big One UI update for the Galaxy Note 20 duo is rolling out in Europe and Latin America. The new firmware build number for the 4G models is N98*FXXU5HWAC, while that for their 5G counterparts is N98*BXXU5HWAC. Samsung should release the update in more markets, including the US, over the next few days. Since March is still over a week away, you aren’t getting a new security patch here.
Samsung brings One UI 5.1 to mid-range Galaxy models
With Galaxy Note 20 getting One UI 5.1, Samsung is almost done seeding the update to eligible flagship models. And it has immediately shifted the focus to the midrange lineup. As expected, the company has begun with the newest premium mid-range models. The Galaxy A33 5G and Galaxy A53 5G are currently getting One UI 5.1 in Samsung’s homeland South Korea, with firmware versions A336NKSU3CWB3 and A536NKSU4CWB3, respectively (via). The rollout should soon reach other markets. The former wasn’t released in the US but the latter was.
If you’re using any of these Galaxy devices and haven’t received One UI 5.1 yet, you should soon. You can navigate to Settings > Software update > Download and install to check for updates manually. The new One UI version brings a host of new features and improvements, though some new features may not be available to all Galaxy devices. Mid-range models, in particular, may miss out on a bulk of them. But users still have a lot to be excited about here.
That said, some Galaxy users have noticed a rapid battery drain after installing One UI 5.1. Samsung hasn’t officially acknowledged the problem, so it’s unclear whether there’s a bug or if it’s expected. It wouldn’t hurt if you hold off installing the update for a few days and wait for an official word from the Korean brand. We will let you know as soon as we have more information about the matter.
