Several reports in the past have suggested that Samsung is working on a successor to the Galaxy Buds 2 Pro (review) earbuds. Expected to be called the Galaxy Buds 3 Pro, the wearable has been on the development table for quite a while. Its predecessor was released more than a year ago, so it’s due for quite some time now.

We’ve already seen quite a few reports regarding the Buds 3 Pro. Now, the Dutch publication GalaxyClub reports that the company will also launch a more affordable sibling called the Galaxy Buds 3.

Samsung has started developing the firmware for the Galaxy Buds 3 series earbuds

According to the source, Samsung has recently started developing the firmware for both the Galaxy Buds 3 and Pro. Furthermore, the report suggests that the Buds 3 and Buds 3 Pro will carry the model numbers SM-R530 and SM-R630 respectively. It’s worth mentioning that the battery for the charging case of the Buds 3 has already been certified by a Korean agency. However, the certification didn’t reveal anything about the battery capacity of the case.

As for the features, some reports last year suggested that the Galaxy Buds 3 Pro will have some sort of AI functions. It looks like Samsung is very keen on incorporating AI features across its product lineup, not just the smartphones. Notably, the Buds 3 Pro is said to utilize AI for real-time translation services. The earbuds could offer real-time translation of voices during calls as well.

If the reports are correct, AI could help enhance some of the existing features of the Galaxy Buds series wearables. The brand could use artificial intelligence to provide a more effective active noise cancellation (ANC), apart from the ambient mode. As of now, there’s no word if the regular Galaxy Buds 3 model will be offering the AI features. However, it’s unlikely because the Buds 3 will be the more affordable offering of the duo.

Buds 3 series could bring better audio quality, enhanced battery life, and design changes

As expected, the Buds 3 and Buds 3 Pro could feature improved audio quality and enhanced battery life. Notably, the former was launched way back in August 2021, while the latter arrived in August 2022. So we can expect the Buds 3 series to bring some design changes as well. Unfortunately, no details regarding the other features of the Buds 3 and Buds 3 Pro are available at the moment.

Samsung is currently reportedly planning to launch a couple of new Galaxy A series devices in the coming weeks. Later in the summer, the brand will release the Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Galaxy Z Fold 6 foldable smartphones. It’s likely the new Galaxy Buds 3 duo will be unveiled alongside the new Z series foldable offerings. We will know for sure in the coming weeks, so stay tuned.
