Samsung is rolling out a new software update to the Galaxy A41. It still isn’t the big Android 12-based One UI 4.0 update but the 2020 mid-ranger is receiving a fairly recent security patch. The device is picking up the January 2022 SMR (security maintenance release).

The new update for the Galaxy A41 is rolling out with firmware version A415FXXU1CVA3, SamMobile reports. As of this writing, the OTA (over the air) rollout is available to users in Russia. But it shouldn’t be long before the update hits units in other regions.

As far as the content of the new software package is concerned, there isn’t much to write about. At least in terms of the user-facing changes. This update is all about a new security patch. Samsung has already confirmed that the January SMR contains fixes for over 60 vulnerabilities, including a bunch of critical ones. So if the update is available for you, you should install it right away.

There may also be some additional optimizations and stability improvements, but that’s about it. With the One UI 4.0 update not too far away, Samsung wouldn’t want to ship any new features right now.

As you can see in our detailed coverage here, the latest One UI version brings tons of goodies. From UI changes to improved apps and new features, there’s a lot to look forward to. We will let you know when the big Android update starts rolling out to the Galaxy A41. Note that Android 12 could be the last major Android OS upgrade for the phone.

Samsung has already started rolling out the February security update

The Galaxy A41 may just be receiving the January SMR but Samsung has already released the latest February security patch to some other Galaxy devices. Namely, the Galaxy Note 20 series, Galaxy S20 series, Galaxy A50s, and the Galaxy A51 have picked up the new SMR over the past few days. It will reach more devices in the coming days and weeks.

Meanwhile, if you’re using the Galaxy 41 in Russia, you should now be able to install the new software update. Your phone should notify you of the OTA update once available. Alternatively, you can open the Settings app, scroll down to the Software update menu, and tap on Download and install to check if you have an OTA software package pending download. If there isn’t any, check back again later or wait for the notification. Stay tuned for the Android 12-based One UI 4.0 update as well.
